Cross-strait Public Governance and Institutional Innovation Seminar held at PKU

Peking University, April 10, 2015: On April 2, Peking University Co-innovation Center for State Governance held an academic seminar titled "Cross-strait Public Governance and Institutional Innovation". Scholars, professors and students from mainland China and Taiwan attended the seminar.

Professor Wang Puqu, director of the Center, gave an opening speech to welcome Taiwan scholars and students. He hoped that this seminar could promote the communication between mainland China and Taiwan in the field of public governance. Besides, he also introduced Taiwan delegation the history, academic function and achievements of the Co-innovation Center. He then presented the development of mainland public governance to the attendees. He elaborated on the condition and requirements of professional training as well as the major fields and subjects in the field of public governance.  

Professor Yan Jirong, vice director and secretary-general of the Center, discussed what mainland and Taiwan could learn from each other. Apart from some major problems of public governance in Taiwan, he also pointed out that many topics in the field of public governance concerned both sides; therefore cross-strait communication was beneficial to both sides.

Professor Zhu Jingpeng from National Dong Hwa University appreciated the Center's warm welcome on behalf of Taiwan delegates. He said that innovation was the source of motivation, and co-innovation was an important form of innovation. Mainland Co-innovation Center with its five members could encourage innovation, participate in global co-innovation study and improve academic research as well as student training.
