Guo Wei, one of the PKU “Top 10” Teachers in 2001, works on magnetism and superconductivity theories at the School of Physics. Dramatically, the associate professor has also looked into the great Chinese Novel Dream of Red Mansions since 1990s.

In Guo’s eyes, the prehistoric legends of the Eastern and Western Communities share some common idea: “Hetu Luoshu” in Yi, an ancient Chinese classic, bears thousands of years’ secrecy of the origin of Han Culture; while the Bible indicates Adam and Eve as the origin of mankind.

In Dream of Red Mansions, Cao Xueqin gave profound explanations on human’s sin, which is linked by Guo to Eden, to the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
